The purpose of the commemorative month [of October] is to recognize the impact that LQBTQ+ individuals have had on history locally, nationally, and internationally. In 1994, a coalition of education-based organizations in the United States designated October as LGBTQ+ History Month. – Library of Congress. https://www.loc.gov/lgbt-pride-month/about/…
According to the Human Rights Campaign, LGBTQ+ can be explained to children as “who you love”. https://welcomingschools.org/resources/definitions-lgbtq-elementary-school.
“[Baltimore] City Schools is committed to supporting all those we serve in the LGBTQ+ community, and to providing safe and affirming school and work environments for all.” “[GSA]s are student-run organizations that unite LGBTQ+ youth to build community and organize around issues impacting them and their school communities. GSAs provide a safe space for LGBTQ+ students to socialize; support and learn from one another, and work to make the school community a more affirming space that celebrates the lives and contributions of all students.” https://www.baltimorecityschools.org/fair-practices-staff
