Welcome to the 2018-2019 school year!
I hope you are enjoying your summer. We are thrilled to welcome all of you back to a new school year filled of learning and growing.
Personally, I am grateful to continue this journey with you as principal of Bay Brook Elementary/Middle @ Carter G. Woodson. This year we will have a focus on Restorative Practice. Restorative Practice is a strategy that educators use to build relationships with every student. This practice encourages staff to assist students with restoring relationships when they have conflict, versus using punitive measures. I invite all parents to come join our Daily Morning Restorative Circles that will engage students in fostering relationships with each other.
Due to students being transported to Bay Brook at Carter G. Woodson, the bell schedule has changed. The new school hours are 9:30 a.m. – 4:10 p.m. Students should not arrive to school before 9:30 a.m. Bus pick up and drop off information will be mailed out in the next few weeks, however bus information will also be given out during our Back to School/Meet and Greet.
The Back to School Meet & Greet will take place on Friday, August 31st from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. Transportation will only be provided to parents for the event. Parents will be transported at 12:30 p.m., on school buses from 10th Street & Virginia Avenue to Bay Brook @ Carter G. Woodson. Parents are welcome to bring their child to the event using their own transportation.
The Back to School Meet & Greet will allow parents to experience the same bus routes that students will use during the school year. During the event, families will be able to meet the teachers, see classroom, and learn about school transportation.
We are encouraging all families to come out to this event.
